Micrometazoa

Micrometazoa

This group includes microorganisms formed by several cells which, grouped together, form true tissues. They are found in activated sludge systems of advanced age, where they have a better chance of staying alive. Due to its morphological complexity, they are more susceptible to environmental impacts, being good indicators of stabilized waste and low toxicity.

The main representatives found in activated sludge systems are:

Rotifers

Annelids

Nematodes

Tardigrades
